SPORTS PERFORMANCE

PHYSICAL CONDITIONING

Physical conditioning is one of the most important factors in sports training and it means so much more than just lifting weights.

MORE

In order to practice elite sport, athletes need to possess the technical competencies involved in movement and specific physical qualities in order to sustain their moves. Fight Performance strength and conditioning coaches merge theory and practice by developing physical conditioning programs, helping athletes become faster, stronger and more flexible while building muscle resistance in order to work at full potential without running the risk of injury.

The Fight Performance team has developed a system guaranteed to help each athlete reach their full potential.

LESS

This is comprised of two stages.

In the first stage, there will be an evaluation of the personal health record, training sessions and a series of physical tests which will determine the athlete’s mobility, stability, the execution techniques’ biomechanics, agility, speed, strength, power and physical endurance. We use standardized evaluation methods with special protocols in order to ensure the consistency and validity of the tests, all while employing the latest technologies and equipment used by the top athletes worldwide.

The second stage consists of identifying the objectives, which have to be:

  • Specific – aiming at a specific area for development
  • Measurable – quantifiable or at least presenting a progress indicator
  • Accessible – appropriate to the ones realizing them
  • Realistic – as close as possible to the truth, using the available resources
  • Within a time frame – specifying the time frame within which the objectives are to be achieved

After collecting all the necessary information we need, we will proceed to developing the training program, which will be a progressive one, personalized and optimized for each athlete and respecting their competition calendar, its principles being grounded solely on scientific research.

We strongly believe that the foundation of a physical conditioning plan is respecting the principles of biomechanics.  This is why we emphasize the correct execution of the techniques and we make sure that each athlete bears this detail in mind for maximum efficiency in realizing each exercise and to avoid injuries.

We will continue to have constant reevaluations to monitor progress. They will be done at micro and macro levels.

Micro evaluations will concern each rep and exercise; they will be analyzed in order to see the strengths and the weaknesses, our duty being to improve them.

A macro evaluation will be done every 1-3 months and it is crucial to identifying the progress made. They will prove that the implemented program is producing results, and if they are not acceptable, the program will be modified in order to obtain the desired results.

PSYCHOLOGICAL TRAINING

In order to reach peak performance, both in sports and in any other human activity, a series of psychological measures need to be implemented, meant to teach a person how to get their emotions under control, actualize their availability and latent mental resources, which typically people don’t access and use.

MORE/LESS

Think about a moment, past or present, when you were involved in a sport or performance activity. Take a minute and create a mental picture about how it was to compete, how much time you devoted to your performance and the way you felt. After visualizing that experience, think about how much time you spent practicing sports or developing your physical abilities. Most athletes would agree that a large chunk of their time, usually 80-90%, is spent on physical training. Now, consider this…

“WHILE COMPETING, IF YOU HAD MADE A MISTAKE, WOULD IT HAVE BEEN DUE TO A LACK OF PHYSICAL ABILITY OR A RESULT OF A PERIOD OF POOR CONCENTRATION?”

When asked this question, a significant proportion of the athletes attributed their mistakes to mental errors, not physical ones. Therefore, the following question arises: why do we constantly invest only in physical training, when many errors can be corrected by using our mental abilities?

Imagine a holistic training program, where cultivating mental abilities can complement physical conditioning and the athlete has the opportunity to develop numerous abilities to contribute to their confidence, concentration, mental endurance, capacity to handle their emotions and to efficiently communicate to others. This is where the Fight Performance sports psychology consultants can help you.

GROUP/TEAM MENTAL TRAINING

Why group/team training?

  • Improves the team’s or group’s ability to consistently achieve and maximize their potential

  • Enhances the team’s or group’s capacity to overcome challenges together, while at the same time improving general endurance

  • Improves the cohesion of the team and utilizes efficient communication skills

  • Develops leadership styles and the capacity to motivate others

  • Raises the group’s/team’s awareness level

PHYSICAL RECOVERY

Regardless of the sport, we can help athletes enjoy it by consolidating strength, improving balance, flexibility and increasing the endurance of athletes of all ages and levels, who have suffered from a sports injury, offering them medical care and assistance with our partners who are leaders in the medical recovery field. We use the latest technologies and research in order to treat a series of medical conditions, helping patients return to their usual activities as fast and as safely as possible.

MORE

Sometimes all it takes to solve the problem can be a simple change in the training sessions by correcting them or adding some exercises. If the evaluation reveals a more serious problem, we will work together with a physician or therapist in order to establish a suitable therapy plan.

By using a multidisciplinary approach, each patient is individually evaluated to define their rehabilitation needs. This includes a thorough examination, which consists of their medical history, objective measures and any necessary test in order to determine the mechanical dysfunctions connected to the injury.

A care plan is then designed together with you, approaching any problem, deficiency or functional limitation. We establish your objectives with the purpose of reaching the highest possible functional level. An at-home exercise program is part of all plans, so as to maintain the progress achieved in the clinical environment.

Communication is key for the team who conducts the athlete’s recovery plan. Our team guarantees regular communication between the therapist, technical coach, strength and conditioning coach and your physician. This communication is essential in order to assure you that your treatments are properly progressing and that all those involved are helping you return to practicing sport as fast and as safely as possible.
